Monochromatic Holiday Look

December 19, 2016

When it comes to finding the perfect holiday look, one of the key things I look for is comfort.  I want to be able to eat, laugh, hug and dance while wearing my holiday best.  If we learned anything from Cher Horowitz, it’s that our party clothes can be quite binding.  No one wants to spend the evening uncomfortable and counting down the minutes until you can slip into pj’s.  Each piece in this look is the epitome of comfort and I love how it all ties together in a sophisticated monochromatic palette.  The added bonus?  Unlike a super festive holiday dress, these pieces can easily be paired with a myriad of other things in my wardrobe, giving them a low cost-per-wear.

With it being boot season, I’m all about wearing them over pumps (hello warm feet) with my holiday outfits. These suede boots are from M.Gemi and come in a range of colors (I’m dying over this velvet pair).  Similar to two of my other favorite lines The Arrivals and Everlane, M.Gemi’s shoes are handcrafted by luxury artisans in Italy.  They are one of few companies that offer luxury goods at transparent pricing, so you’re getting the highest quality without the markup.  Their entire line has some great holiday pieces right now – I’m loving these cute flats, loafers and glitter heels.

Next week I’ll be sharing another holiday look with some added vamp perfect for NYE.

Orseund Iris

December 5, 2016

iris1 iris2iris8iris3croppediris4croppediris12iris7 iris11iris5 iris6iris9When I first came across the New York fashion line Orseund Iris, I was immediately smitten.  Their off-the-cuff designs have the perfect combination of structure and volume, the two key elements I look for when seeking out special pieces.  This off-the-shoulder knit top had an immediate effect on my mood, making me feel incredibly unique and like I could conquer anything. Featured in Marie Claire, Nylon and Grazia, Orseund Iris is definitely a line you’re going to want to keep your eye on.

Statement sleeves are huge right now and a trend I’ve been a fan of for quite some time.   I love that this top can be styled alone, but I’m also super excited about pairing it over high collar button-ups and longer tunics for a more subdued look.  In the midst of this shoot the sun never left us, but it began to rain.  It was like a rare summer storm that makes the air smell fresh and leaves as quickly as it arrives.

Weekend Casual + Cyber Monday Deals

November 28, 2016

silverboots9silverboots3silverboots7silverboots5croppedsilverboots6silverboots4silverboots8silverboots2cropped silverboots1croppedI hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  I spent the holiday with family, put up our Christmas tree and then cozied up on the couch with some hot chocolate and online retail therapy.  We experienced quite the two-day downpour in Southern California, so when it wasn’t raining I opted for a cozy sweater, slouchy boots and distressed denim.  You may remember these jeans from a prior post.  I recently gave them new life at the Vocabulary Boutique Denim Event by cropping them into a baby flare.  I love the way they turned out and will definitely be wearing them more often!

Speaking of freshening up your closet, now really is the best time of year to stock up on new pieces.  With today being Cyber Monday, you seriously can’t find better deals, especially on designer items that never seem to budge on price.  Every single thing I’m wearing in today’s post is on sale, and I’ve linked some of my other favorite sales below.  Simply click on each link and be directed to some amazing deals.  Seriously, you don’t want to miss out on these prices, all of which will go back up tomorrow!

Happy shopping and let me know what you scored in the comments below!

Holiday Attire: Velvet Midi Skirt

November 21, 2016

velvetskirt1velvetskirt5velvetskirt6croppedvelvetskirt4 velvetskirt2 velvetskirt3

velvetskirt8velvetskirt11 velvetskirt9 velvetskirt10 With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we have officially entered the holiday season!  I especially love this time of year and will be kicking off some holiday themed content between now and December 25.  First up is a holiday inspired OOTD!

When thinking about what to wear for holiday events, it’s important to choose pieces that are comfortable (the last thing you want is to be restricted during a large meal!) and have styling versatility.  A sequins dress is awesome, but you can’t really wear it more than once during such a short timeframe and the styling options are quite limited.

Pleated midi skirts are super comfortable and offer great versatility, so I was ecstatic when I found this velvet number in a gorgeous shade of mustard.  During the day I can wear it with a simple turtleneck and ballet flats, and at night for holiday parties I’ll be pairing it with this statement bow top.  The color is festive without being predictable and looks great with a bold red lip and delicate gold jewelry.

I’ve linked some of my favorite pleated midi skirts below (I love this silver one!).

90’s Slip Dress

November 14, 2016

90sslipdress1 90sslipdress290sslipdress7 90sslipdress390sslipdress9 90sslipdress4 90sslipdress890sslipdress5 90sslipdress6 The 1990’s have had quite the influence on the fashion world the past couple of seasons.  From oversized silhouettes to a resurgence of plaid, to block heeled footwear, this more relaxed way of dressing has definitely caught on.

I dusted off this silk slip dress during NYFW and have been loving its second life ever since.  Whether paired underneath a blazer or worn over a simple t-shirt or sweater, it’s cozy but still makes me feel put together.

I took my normal size in this dress, but if you want to recreate the look with a heavier cable knit sweater (something I’m dying to try) definitely size up or choose a slip-on style (no zipper).  The great thing about slip dresses is that they’re lighter fabric is forgiving, so a larger size won’t make you look like you’re swimming in your dress.

What do you think of the 90s trend?  Love it or leave it?
