The End of Season Sales I’m Shopping

December 2, 2019

Cyber Monday Sales 2019

Ahh my favorite time of year.  Designer sale season.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I do a Fashion Friday series on Stories.  This past week I dedicated it to Black Friday and how to navigate the craziness.  And boy is it crazy.

Literally everything is on sale so it can be totally overwhelming.  And when we’re overwhelmed we tend to overspend and lose focus on what we really need.

Below are the designer sales I’m shopping and some tips for how to stay focused and get the best bang for your buck.  (READ: stuff you actually need and will wear)

Sales

Moda Operandi – probably my FAVORITE of them all because of the insane discount and inventory selection.  Currently up to 50% off plus an additional 30% off sale.

Net-a-Porter – Currently up to 50% off plus an additional 15% off.  My go-to for fashion AND beauty.

SSENSE – the edgy kid in the bunch, they have tons of Balenciaga and street style brands.  Definitely check out their sale on Moussy Vintage jeans.

24S – like a cool French girl with impeccable style, this retailer has a wide range of European designers (they carry Celine RTW!) and don’t charge sales tax to orders in the US.

Totokaelo – extra 10% off sale.  Amazing selection of up-and-coming indie designers like Khaite.  If you like menswear inspired pieces or structured silhouettes, Totokaelo is the shop for you.

Farfetch – the largest selection of inventory.  Period.  If you can’t find it on Farfetch, it doesn’t exist.

Matches Fashion – extra 10% off sale.  Like Farfetch, the inventory is extensive and the user experience is top-notch (their search function is incomparable).

Need Supply – extra 20% off.  A great mix of designer and affordable items.  Check out Stelen and Farrow; two trendy yet affordable brands exclusive to Need Supply.

Tips

1. Make a list and stick to it.  You should utilize your favorite retailers’ wishlist function and add to it YEAR ROUND.  That way, when Cyber Week sales hit, you can simply check to see what on your wishlist went on sale and pounce.

2. Take advantage of buy/return.  At this point in designer sale season, nothing is final sale.  If you are unsure about sizing or think an item you want may go to a further discount, but it now and take advantage of the option to return or price adjust.

3. Don’t shop when you are tired or have had a glass of wine.  Sounds odd, but when your defenses are down, you are much more likely to overspend!

Shopping Hacks: How to Get the Best Cyber Week & Black Friday Deals

November 21, 2017

2017 Shopping HacksMy favorite time of year is upon us – sale season! The week of Thanksgiving through the end of January marks the number one time to get the best deals of the year.

As many of you may have noticed, the sales have already started. No need to wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday to save some serious cash. Today I’m sharing my Top 5 Tips for how to navigate the often overwhelming, stressful sale season.

Make sure your list is ready and read on!

1. Go to the mall and try on everything you’ve been eyeing to narrow down.

When the sales hit, pounce. This allows you to determine the correct size and fit, see the quality in person, and eliminate anything that doesn’t work ahead of time. No second-guessing, no over buying.

Shopping win: staying on budget and not hassling with returns.

2. Use the wish list feature on all your favorite retailers’ sites.

When the sales hit, simply click on your wish list to see what went on sale and start buying.

Shopping win: time saver. No fumbling around the web to see what went on sale or trying to remember who made that jacket you’ve been coveting. Everything is in one tidy place.

3. Buy now, price adjust later.

If something you’ve been eyeing is likely to sell out, just buy it now at full price and go back when the sales hit for a price adjustment. Make sure you only do this for places that honor price adjustments and/or have return policies.

  • Bonus tip: whenever possible, buy designer items from department stores or large online retailers. Most designer boutiques won’t price adjust, price match or return merchandise.

Shopping win: CYA; not losing out on popular items.

4. Befriend shop associates.

They have the inside scoop on what will go on sale and how much inventory is in stock. I have a shoe guy at Nordstrom that sets things aside for me and texts me photos so I can narrow down my list and not risk something selling out. Develop these relationships.

  • Bonus tip: develop these relationships at multiple locations to cover the most ground. Different stores have different merchandise so it’s always good to cover your bases.

Shopping win: these relationships will continue to serve you well throughout the year. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

5. Cross reference prices via department stores.

For example, there’s a Vince sweater I want. I’ve added the sweater to my wish lists at Vince, Nordstrom, Shopbop and Net-a-porter. Because some retailers do tiered sales (20% off $250, 30% off $500, etc.) you could get a better deal somewhere else. Do your research.

  • Bonus tip: remember sales tax and rewards systems.  Bergdorf Goodman doesn’t charge sales tax to California residents so take advantage! This is especially key for higher priced items.
  • If you have a department store credit card like Nordstrom, for example, try to keep all your purchases in one place so you accrue points (like Nordstrom Notes), which can be used towards future purchases.

Weekend Casual + Cyber Monday Deals

November 28, 2016

silverboots9silverboots3silverboots7silverboots5croppedsilverboots6silverboots4silverboots8silverboots2cropped silverboots1croppedI hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  I spent the holiday with family, put up our Christmas tree and then cozied up on the couch with some hot chocolate and online retail therapy.  We experienced quite the two-day downpour in Southern California, so when it wasn’t raining I opted for a cozy sweater, slouchy boots and distressed denim.  You may remember these jeans from a prior post.  I recently gave them new life at the Vocabulary Boutique Denim Event by cropping them into a baby flare.  I love the way they turned out and will definitely be wearing them more often!

Speaking of freshening up your closet, now really is the best time of year to stock up on new pieces.  With today being Cyber Monday, you seriously can’t find better deals, especially on designer items that never seem to budge on price.  Every single thing I’m wearing in today’s post is on sale, and I’ve linked some of my other favorite sales below.  Simply click on each link and be directed to some amazing deals.  Seriously, you don’t want to miss out on these prices, all of which will go back up tomorrow!

Happy shopping and let me know what you scored in the comments below!
