Life Lately

September 24, 2021

Lack of Color HatI don’t know about you, but this week felt like it FLEW by.  We moved from London to Milan Fashion Week, we experienced the first day of fall, and I somehow managed to make it to Friday without really remembering what kept me so busy all week.

That said, I don’t have any in-depth fashion week recaps for you (check Insta Stories), but I do have some life lately updates.

Wearing

If you’ve been reading In Spades for a while, you know that bespoke jewelry is something I’ve been collecting for years.  I’ve transformed old jewelry into new pieces, discovered indie designers and even designed my own pieces (more on that soon).

Today I shared a Reel on Instagram of my latest acquisition.  I’m OBSESSED.

Here are some other brands that I’m coveting.

Home Decor

Some people do cleanses for the body, some people do cleanses for their space.  I’ve done both, but I’m much more of a “we need a TOTAL redecoration!” person.

It won’t be anything major.  Wallpaper, a new area rug, some small furniture and drapery.  Okay, that actually sounds more intense than I thought.

I’m in love with this wallpaper, but have found a much more affordable option that I love too.  Stay tuned for home decor inspo.

Reading & Listening

I finished Olympus, Texas and highly recommend it.  While it started off slow, the subtext, nuanced relationships and “make you think” moments really stuck with me.

I’m now on to The Lazy Genius Way.  I’m hoping it will inspire me to not write 11th-hour blog posts.  🙂  J/K.

I also started listening to the newly released episodes of The Dropout podcast.  If you haven’t read Bad Blood, stop what you’re doing and go buy it.  It’s a true story and one of my favorite books ever.  The Dropout podcast picks up where it leaves off.  Now that Elizabeth Holmes, the star of this story, has begun her court proceedings, they’ve released new episodes.  I’m riveted.

Gold Footprint Necklace

January 21, 2019

Marrow Fine Small Disco Diamond PendantI’m a sentimental person by nature.  Whether it’s cards, letters or even movie stubs, I save everything with a special memory attached.  I’m especially connected to clothing and jewelry (no surprise there).  With Marie Kondo’s Netflix show sweeping the nation, the question of whether something sparks joy is pretty laughable when it comes to my closet and jewelry box.

No occasion has made me more sentimental than the birth of our daughter.  When she came into our lives I collected anything that bore her resemblance – initial necklaces, t-shirts, you name it, I bought it.  While I love all of the ready-made pieces I acquired, I knew nothing would come close to something created specifically in her image.  A custom piece was essential.

When it comes to capturing sentimental moments in gorgeous packages, I knew I had to contact Marrow Fine.  You may remember Jillian from our Vogue-style Q&A interview and the gorgeous Montana sunstone ring she created with my grandmother’s diamond.

Beyond her stunning rings, she also has a full line of necklaces, earrings and bracelets.  I’d been wanting to add a necklace to my collection and her disco diamond pendant was the perfect fit.  To personalize it, she created a mold of my daughter’s footprint and cast it inside the disc.  I’m so happy with the way it turned out and have been layering it and wearing it solo almost every day since I got it.

For someone who places a ton of emotion into clothing and accessories, this piece is truly like wearing my heart on my sleeve.  I’ve been doing that since the day my daughter was born, and this just makes it all the more special.  I can’t wait to pass this down to her someday.

Jillian engraved my daughter’s moniker on the back side of the pendant.  It’s so dainty.  It almost feels like a secret feature.  I love that I can switch it up and wear it either way depending on my mood.

Jewelry is already so personal, but this pendant truly is one of a kind.

Special thanks to Jillian and all the Marrow Babes (can’t forget Hot Dad) for their creative magic.
