Floral Midi Skirt

April 18, 2016

FloralSkirt3 FloralSkirt2 FloralSkirt4 FloralSkirt7 FloralSkirt1 FloralSkirt8 FloralSkirt6 FloralSkirt5 I always giggle at the line from The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” While a floral motif certainly isn’t new, there’s nothing more ‘spring’ than the light, whimsical feeling of flowers. This past weekend I was in San Francisco and visited the Oscar de la Renta exhibit at the de Young museum. It was utterly stunning, and perhaps my favorite room was the one dedicated to his floral print dresses. Beautiful, classic and oh-so-Audrey, they brought forth the feeling of fresh starts and airy moods. No one epitomized femininity better than de la Renta.

I picked up this midi skirt from Zara (bonus points for the pockets!) and love that it can be a little cocktail with a cropped top and bangles, or perfect for day with a crisp white button-up. Versatile and comfortable, it will definitely see heavy rotation for me this spring.

Crisscrossed

DenimJumpsuit5 DenimJumpsuit6 DenimJumpsuit4 DenimJumpsuit8 DenimJumpsuit2 DenimJumpsuit3 DenimJumpsuit1 DenimJumpsuit9 By now you should know I’m a jumpsuit girl. I love the ease of wearing one piece. Unlike a dress, jumpsuits offer more versatility in both comfort and style. Denim and chambray are great fabrics for both spring and summer, so when I saw this piece at Bloomingdale’s, I knew it would get lots of rotation. Paired with a statement ring and a simple necklace, it’s the perfect look for cocktails or dinner al fresco.

Antithesis

April 4, 2016

Dolce5 Dolce3 Dolce7 Dolce2 Dolce8 Dolce9 Dolce1 Dolce4 Dolce6Coachella starts next week and just about every blog and social media channel is talking about getting your wardrobe ‘festival ready’.  A lovely sentiment if the style fits your aesthetic, but flower crowns and denim cutoffs that resemble underwear are not my cup of tea.  I do, however, love two elements typically found in festival attire: volume and texture.  I’m less desert, more Dolce.

When I saw this white lace dress I knew it could give off desert vibes with it’s bell sleeves and all over textured lace.  Inspired by one of my favorite Dolce & Gabbana ad campaigns, I put my own personal touch on it by donning massive sunglasses, a signature Italian red lip and statement shoes and earrings.  A touch of sass sans sand.

This dress is a great representation of the power of personal style.  On a hanger it fits multiple aesthetics.  On a woman, it completely transforms.

How would you style it?

Chloe Girl

March 30, 2016

BRBucket2 BRBucket4 BRBucket8 BRBucket3 BRBucket6 BRBucket1 BRBucket5 Ethereal, breezy, whimsical. Chloe girls epitomize the aura of the 70’s and I couldn’t help feeling a bit transported walking down the street with bell sleeves and flares. I love this outfit for springtime – it’s incredibly comfortable (these jeans seriously feel like pajama bottoms!) and easy while still looking very polished. Topped with a bucket bag in the most sumptuous tan leather, it fits right in with the Chloe aesthetic, but for a fraction of the cost. I’d call that a win-win.

Free People jeans (on sale!) // Mustard Seed top ($58) // Banana Republic bucket bag //

Duality

March 21, 2016

Novis6 Novis7 Novis4 Novis1 Novis8 Novis5 Novis9 Novis10 Novis3
I’m one of those people that usually picks one statement item and builds an outfit around it.  For today’s #ootd, it was this buttery leather top. What I love most about it (other than it making me feel like Joan of Arc in a plate of leather armor), is its ability to look cool and casual – when paired with jeans and platform sandals – or totally sophisticated, with wool culottes or a high waisted midi-skirt. In colder weather I throw a turtleneck underneath it, making it surprisingly transitional. For investment items like leather, I think it’s super important to find that duality.  The best of both worlds.

Novis top (sold out in black, blue available here) // Vintage Levi’s (on sale!) (dark wash here)  // Janessa Leone hat // Alexander Wang sandals (similar here)
