Updated Loungewear Review

April 27, 2020

In March I shared 3 Loungewear Brands I’m Loving.  With WFH orders still in place, I ended up buying another sweatsuit and researching a handful of other brands.

Here is my updated loungewear review!

I’ve been living in these joggers but really wanted to get a matching set.  I love the simple, chic look of a white sweatsuit, and found this brand.

Les Tien

Les Tien sweatsuit

Their brand mission is to create high-quality basics.  The cotton is super substantial.  No see-through whites here.  I’m wearing a size XS top and bottom in ivory.  Because this brand does unisex sizing, I wish they offered an XXS.  I likely would have ordered an XXS in the pants.  Thankfully there is a drawstring in addition to the elastic waistband so you can tighten them even more.

I love that they have pockets and come in 15 colors – tons of options to choose from!  The length is perfect.  Because the cotton is substantial, this sweatsuit is probably better for fall and winter months, but I love it nonetheless and have been wearing it a ton.

Shop Les Tien

Naadam

Naadam cashmere loungewear

I’ve written about Naadam before, but had to highlight them again because they are currently having a 20% off sale.

I have yet to share this cashmere hoodie and leggings set on the blog.  I wear the hoodie out of the house all the time.  Thanks to the high-quality fabric and chic vibe, it can be paired with just about anything and look amazing.  I wore it with vintage Levi’s and a leather jacket prior to quarantine.

The leggings could be worn out of the house too, but I prefer to lounge in them at home.  They are substantial (not see-through) and the perfect length, but do feel a little pajama-y for me to wear running errands.

I really want to try this cotton/cashmere blend hoodie and these joggers.  The pastel color options are so pretty!

Shop Naadam

Lunya

Lunya is a go-to brand for me (read my review of their leggings here).  I tried two pairs of their joggers: this draped pair and this fleece pair.

The draped pair feel like a cloud – you could totally sleep in them.  They have a chic, Rick Owens cool-girl vibe.  I love the elastic ankles and bonus points for the pockets!  I ordered an XS and highly recommend them.

The fleece pair is sooooo soft and comfortable, but the fit is very unflattering.  I felt like I was wearing my grandfather’s pajamas.  The waist is SUPER high and when you combine that with a drop crotch, you have to be 6 feet tall and super skinny for them to look cool.  Pass.

Shop Lunya
Mate the Label

I researched this brand a ton and adore that they use organic cotton.  The price point is very reasonable and they have tons of color options.  Unfortunately the color I want is sold out in my size, but as soon as it comes back in stock, I’ll be picking this set up and let you know how it is.

Chic Spring to Summer Look

April 20, 2020

Janessa Leone Francis Packable Straw FedoraJanessa Leone Francis Packable Straw Fedora Janessa Leone Straw Fedora // Ganni dress

As I write this, it’s Greek Easter.  For all my fellow Greeks, Christos Anesti!  On Sunday we spent the afternoon dying eggs, watching my daughter open her Easter basket and playing the Greek Easter egg cracking game, tsougrisma.

Last week I shared the 3 straw hat styles I’m coveting for summer.  I picked this one up in Nordstrom’s flash sale and adore the posh vibe.  It reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would have worn.  It can be more casual (worn untied), or very elegant when the linen is draped around the neck.

The linen ties are so elegant, but they’re functional too.  They keep the hat from flying off on a bike ride or windy day.  I love dual-purpose fashion!

When I was a kid, we had awesome Easter dinners.  Crystal stemware engraved with my family’s initials.  A huge Greek feast – lamb, salad, Greek potatoes, spanikopita, baklava, and of course dyed red eggs.  After dinner the younger generation entertained the family patriarchs with songs and Greek dancing.  It was SO much fun.

Although this Easter was much more casual, I still wanted to put on an outfit that made me feel fancy.  This dress was also a score in the Nordstrom flash sale.  It’s super flattering and comfortable (pregnant ladies, it would be perfect for a growing belly).  I plan to wear it with flat sandals.  Birkenstocks would look awesome with this!  To dress it up, I’ll pair it with my fave Isabel Marant block heeded sandals and lots of gold jewelry.

It’s truly the perfect chic spring to summer dress.

Life Lately

April 13, 2020

AGOLDE Parker Black Jeans AGOLDE Parker Black JeansAGOLDE Parker jeans // Pharaoh tee // Roxanne Assoulin necklace // YSL bag
Golden Goose sneakers // Le Specs sunglasses

Like the rest of the world, my daily scenery consists of the rooms in my house and a dog walk/toddler nature excursion.  Despite the change in schedule, I wanted to give you an update on my life lately.

Binge-Worthy Shows

I finished The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and adored it.  If you love fashion, comedy and New York City (three of my loves) you’ll adore this show.  I love how meticulously put together Mrs. Maisel is while also serving up some loose-cannon zingers.  Her father, played by Tony Shalhoub, has me rolling on the floor laughing.  My husband said it’s been so nice to see me laugh while watching this how.  If you need some refreshing escapism, this show is for you.

I also tried Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn’s new show, Making the Cut, and sadly had to scrap it after 3 episodes.  It’s Project Runway 2.0 without the grit.  The producers obviously identified a favorite in the first episode, and I don’t think I need to continue watching to know who will have the next global fashion empire.

Next on my list is Cheer and Schitt’s Creek.  What are you watching?

Workouts

I’ve been consistent with BBG (the Bikini Body Guide).  I do four resistance workouts per week – legs, arms, full body and abs.  They are 7-minute circuits that get repeated 4 times for a total of 28 minutes of exercise.  You need minimal equipment – I use 3 lb weights and resistance bands – and it’s done through the Sweat app.

The cost is either $20 per month or $120 for a yearly membership.  Clearly, I went with the yearly membership and think it’s SO worth it.

My husband and I also decided to invest in a Peloton because we don’t think we’ll be able to return to the gym anytime soon.  It arrives on April 25, so once I’ve had a chance to test it out, I’ll write a review.

The Peloton app (which has yoga, meditation, dance classes, etc.) is free for 90 days.  You don’t need the bike to do these other workouts, so jump on the freebie while it lasts!  You must sign up by April 30 for the 90-day free trial.

Fashion

I’ve honestly only put on jeans once since self-quarantine began.  These jeans are my hero pair.  I wrote about them here.  They run TTS (size down if you are in between sizes) and come in several different washes.

I recently upped my loungewear game because my collection only consisted of two pairs of joggers.  Clearly with life as it is, I need more!

I’m going to update this loungewear review once all my new picks arrive.  Stay tuned!

New Obsessions

Okay, I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say I’m obsessed, but I am really enjoying Tik Tok.  I started creating videos.  Check them out here.

No, I will not be doing sexy dance videos.  I do have some ideas for a twist on my Fashion Friday series, so stay tuned!

Life Lately

This was the last photoshoot we did before self-quarantine began.  We shot right outside Copa Vida coffee shop, which is adjacent to Petco Park.  I remember feeling so excited for opening day at the Padres (I love a sunny day of baseball, beer and good friends).  It still blows my mind how much has changed.

Interestingly, I ran into two friends while doing this shoot.  It was so nice to randomly run into people and chat for a few minutes.  I long for the days when that reality starts again.

Yes, this is a hard time, but I know we’ll get through it.  Let’s continue to support each other, open the lines of communication and be thankful for the many blessings we have.  Sending you all well wishes for health, happiness and comfort!

How to Style a Silk Skirt

April 6, 2020

Anine Bing Silk SkirtAnine Bing Silk SkirtAnine Bing silk skirt // Alexander Wang sweater (similar) // Le Specs sunglasses
Givenchy boots (on sale; similar here) // Bottega Veneta bag

While we shot this look pre-quarantine, it couldn’t be a better time to post it.

I love a good silk skirt.  They truly are a closet staple.  I own a champagne colored one and knew I wanted to add a black one to the mix.  Right now this skirt is 25% off.

In fact, Anine Bing is doing a 25% off sitewide sale.  It’s a great time to save on her other closet staples like graphic tees, denim and silk separates.

If you’re unfamiliar with her, she is a model influencer turned designer.  Beyond her cool-girl style that is copied the world over, she’s legit.  This isn’t a blogger playing designer.  She’s the real deal.  Her brand started in 2012 and its aim is to create chic, comfortable pieces that can be worn day to night.

I picked up this sweatshirt and these joggers in the sale.  I’ve been trying to add more chic loungewear to my closet (because WFH) but SO much is sold out!

If you missed my post on the 3 loungewear brands I’m loving, now is a great time to check them out.  They’re carried by several retailers and actually have joggers, sweatpants and sweatshirts in stock.

But back to this silk skirt.  I elevated the look with statement boots and a cozy sweater, but you could take it up a notch further or dress it down.

I’d add a silk cami, leather jacket and heeled sandals for something dressier.  To dress it down, try a graphic tee and sneakers.  These are my fave graphic tees are these are my fave sneakers.

Loungewear Review: 3 Brands I’m Loving

March 25, 2020

Twenty Montreal JoggersTwenty Montreal JoggersTwenty Montreal JoggersTwenty Montreal joggers (cropped version sold out) // Naadam cashmere hoodie (on sale)
P448 sneakers (similar) // Understated Leather jacket (similar) // Gucci sunglasses

I saw a hilarious Tweet.

“To the people wearing jeans during self-quarantine: What are you trying to prove?”

My sentiments exactly.

Loungewear has been on my sartorial to-do list for a couple months now, so I was prepared for the comfy WFH outfit routine.

My quest?  Joggers.

I wanted a pair of sweatpants that are comfortable.  Eco-friendly.  And look chic enough to be worn outside the house.

Mission accomplished.

After testing a handful of brands, here is what I found.

Loungewear Reviews
Twenty Montreal

I adore this brand.  They describe their clothes as luxury meets comfort.  And that’s truly what they make.  These joggers were a great sale find and I’ve already exceeded their cost-per-wear.

I love that they have pockets.  I love that they are cropped (great for long torsoed women).  They are true substantial cotton sweatpants.  The print is edgy yet versatile enough to wear “out” and still make you feel cool and put together.

I will be purchasing these trouser joggers next for an even more elevated look.

I am wearing a Small, but could have gone down to an XS.

Ninety Percent

Ninety Percent uses 100% organic cotton and their pieces are SO cozy.  I ordered a pair of these joggers in black and adored them, but since I scored the above pair at 60% off, I kept the cheaper of the two.

At the time, I was thinking I only needed one pair of joggers, but now… well, let’s just say my tune has changed.

They are true, thick cotton sweatpants.

I ordered an XS in their joggers so I’d say they run TTS.  If you are between sizes, size down.

Lunya

Lunya’s MO is actually sleepwear, but sleepwear, loungewear, same difference.

I own these leggings and they are a dream.  The material is a cozy cotton/silk blend AND they have pockets.  A huge plus in my book.  I also tried these leggings which look almost identical, but the fabric is different.  And I don’t recommend them.  They felt crunchy and sandpapery to me, despite the majority of people giving them rave reviews.  Maybe if I would have washed them they would have softened up, but at $98 they needed to be perfect straight out of the gate.

If you are in the market for a pair of leggings that are not workout pants, definitely give these a go.

If you want to stick to joggers, try these.

I have an XS and would say they run TTS.  Forewarning, the lighter colors are pretty transparent in the bum.  So if you wear polka dot undies underneath them, be prepared for everyone to see.

Other Brands

Below are some other sweatpants I’ve tried and my reviews for each.

Nike and Champion both make some great options, but I’ve found the styles to be very hit or miss and the sizing to be all over the place.
